Programmes
1. Women and youth Empowerment Programme:
a. Organizing women and youth:
We focus on women and youth empowerment especially to improve their social,
Educational, Economical, cultural development by self dependent and empowerment
through capacity building, savings and financial management, women rights, child
rights and livelihood development activities. For that we have formed 52 Women Self
Help groups (SHG) and 16 youth groups in selected 5 panchayats in Sanarpatty Block,
Dindigul District of Tamilnadu through capacity building, savings and financial
management, women rights, child rights and livelihood development activities.
Following to that all the 52 women SHGs were organized as a federation named ‘Maha
Sakthi Women Federation’. This Federation is working as community Based
Organization (CBO) for women Empowerment.
b. REYDS women vocational Tailoring Training Centre:
To encourage rural women for self employment REYDS women vocational Tailoring
Training Centre was started during 2010 with the support of LIFE Tokyo, Japan. In this
training centre women in the age group of 18 – 35 years are enrolled and 6 months
fulltime on job training is given to them. In this training they are learning Fabric
cutting, readymade garments making, and embroidery hand works and machineries
maintenance.
After completion of the 6 months training they are provided with certificate which
can utilized to register in Tamilnadu tailoring labour welfare board by they can get
free sewing machine and educational support for their children and to get marriage
assistance scheme. They can also register in Tamilnadu Tailoring women cooperative
society to get free sewing machine and can get orders to stitch school uniform which
provided to government school students
c. Maha Sakthi Garments Unit:
This unit was started during 2013 with the support of LIFE Tokyo Japan. The women who are
completed the 6 months tailoring course in REYDS women vocational Tailoring Training
Centre and for the unemployed women who are well versed in tailoring are provided
with opportunity to work in Maha Sakthi Garments Unit which was maintained by ‘Maha
Sakthi Women Federation’.
The garments unit orders for job work have been received from various companies in
Karur District which is so called as ‘textile city’. The home textile garments items like
towel, bed cover, pillow cover, table cloth, cushion cover, apron, hand gloves, tea
mate, cotton bags and other ornamental garments are stitching by them and earning
Rs 250 – 550 / day.
2. Nature Theatre (Street Theatre Cultural Team):
During 1998 a street Theatre team was formed in order to provide awareness to the
public with the help of educated youths. Training was given to this team by ‘Thozhar’.
Suresh Dharma who is specialist in Street Theatre Programmes and named the
cultural team as ‘ Nature Theatre’.
This nature theatre held programmes against social issues, child labour system,
dowry, female infanticide and feticide and also provided awareness on women
empowerment to the general public.
Following to that this performed programmes regarding government schemes and
Non Governmental Organization programmes all over Tamilnadu. The income
received from the cultural programmes are being utilized as funds for REYDS Trust
programmes.
2. Nature Theatre (Street Theatre Cultural Team):
During 2006 REYDS Trust and District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Dindigul District
jointly organized clean Village Campaign on solid waste management and constructed
individual, Anganwadi and School toilets in Sanarpatty, Natham,
From 2010 onwards REYDS Trust and Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of
India jointly held National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC) regarding to Climate
change, forest protection, Bio Diversity Conservation, importance of organic Agriculture.
Every year a school will be selected in the target area to form school garden and making the
school as ‘Eco Friendly School’. In addition to that awareness were given to the school
children through ‘Nature Theatre’ cultural team and essay writing and oratorical completions
were conducted regarding to the above said topic and certificates and prizes were awarded
to the children.
During 2013 REYDS Trust and Department of Environment jointly organized ‘Awareness
Campaign on wheel’ programmes on Eradication of Plastic in Dindigul, Trichy, Ariyalur and
Virudhunagar Districts and awareness reached nearly 2 lakhs general public.
